Came across yet another new Google service — Google Site.
This service is roughly the equivalent of a special-interest group site or a personal homepage service, letting you share your articles, photos, videos, schedules, life plans and so on with a group of people who share your interests. It lets you create and edit web pages online as easily as editing a document. You could treat it as just another personal homepage service, but I think it’s better suited as a platform for a club to share and communicate.
Take this guy’s, for example: http://sites.google.com/a/googleuniversity.org/ski-club/Home He set up a ski club homepage on GSITE.
According to the official description, its features are:
- Customize the site’s interface to fit your group and activities as easily as editing a document.
- Create a subpage with just a few clicks
- Choose from a growing list of page types — so far there are Web Pages, Announcements, and File Cabinet
- Centralize shared information, embed rich content (videos, Google Docs, spreadsheets, presentations, Picasa photo slideshows, iGoogle gadgets) into any page, and upload file attachments
- Manage permission settings — whether the site can be edited by only a few people or by anyone, whether it’s accessible only privately or by the public; it’s all in your control
- Search Google Site content using Google’s search technology

But it seems there’s no Chinese version yet?!
