Today my iPhone casually pushed a memory to me. Maybe it doesn’t grasp the weight of that history; maybe it just never forgets to bring its owner a little warmth from days gone by.
Along with it came the music it had auto-picked, and in an instant it flung open the floodgates of my tears, leaving my face soaked.
The song goes like this:
If only I could find a place
Where smiling strangers knew our faces
I would take you there
A place with constant melody
Where you and I could wander free
I would take you there
Seems like such a waste of time
Just trying to unwind the facts of life
If I could find a place, I’d take you
Where the pain don’t cut you like a knife
If only there were time enough
Or word enough, or rhyme enough
I would take you there
– But maybe you’ve already been there. ☀️ R.I.P. 👵
– I hope my grandma has attained nirvana and perfect stillness, and that all is complete and whole.
