html5: The Rising Star of the Rich Internet

HTML 5 is the next generation of the Hypertext Markup Language. Since HTML 4 was released in 1997, HTML development had been at a standstill, while the Web has advanced by leaps and bounds in recent years — so much so that HTML 4 can no longer keep up with today’s increasingly “rich” Web applications. HTML 5 not only addresses HTML 4’s functional shortcomings for Web applications, it also aims to improve HTML’s interactive capabilities and support today’s diverse, complex Web content.

Life Online — yet another web-based version of The Sims

The new Battle.net for World of Warcraft still hasn’t shown any sign of life today, so let’s try a few new games instead. Remember playing The Sims years ago? That cookie-cutter AI really wasn’t much fun at all, and I got bored of it fast. If an online version of The Sims ever came out, I’d be rolling up my sleeves and would definitely have to give it a go. And what do you know — Yangbo Network recently put out a 3D online life-simulation game: Life Online!

Plants vs. Zombies

Having gotten bored of every other game, and with WoW’s Chinese servers temporarily gone, I was bored out of my mind. Into this gap stepped Plants vs. Zombies — a plain but adorable, simple but fun single-player game — and it was a real eye-opener. The art is just so kawaii.

World of Warcraft Rebirth Log [Updated 7.30]

I’ve been playing WoW since the open beta, and after the 9C servers started having frequent, mysterious and unstoppable energy fluctuations that made the game really unpleasant to play, I gradually went AFK. After TBC launched, I went back in and played casually for quite a while, but in the end I left again. I once thought WoW could no longer tempt me, but now that I’ve lost WOW, I feel an unprecedented sense of powerlessness — like the Kaldorei Moon Guard losing the source of the Well of Eternity.

Warcraft Chronicle: In the explosion of the Well of Eternity over 10,000 years ago, Mount Hyjal in Kalimdor survived, and Illidan released the waters of the Well of Eternity into the lake at the mountain’s summit, turning it into a new Well of Eternity. Later, the red dragon planted an acorn from an oak tree in the new Well of Eternity, and it grew into Teldrassil_ the Crown of the World.

World of Warcraft Official History: Audio Edition

WoW has left us for the time being — I really miss it. Over the past few days I played through the campaign again, starting from Reign of Chaos, and then I stumbled across “The Official History of Warcraft, Audio Edition” on verycd! A real gem from several years back.
